Sunday Sensation

6 May

Today was very, very good. We got up early, had breakfast, and headed out to the Bay Bridge Walk. Unfortunately when we got to the parking lot, we found out that the walk was canceled due to wind restrictions on the bridge. Instead of going back home, we went into downtown to explore. There we discovered the Maritime Festival!

There were tons of boats in the harbor:

and we had to take off our shoes to get on the boats and look around:

We saw some really beautiful boats, including a great catamaran that we will never be able to afford! Still, it was fun to see the insides of the boats, with their tiny cabins and teensy weensy bathrooms. Plus, the weather was gorgeous, so it was a nice chance to walk around. There were several booths set up as well.

We saw tiny, lab raised crabs:

We also saw the Pirate Pet Parade. It was unneccesarily cute…

And speaking of uneccessarily cute, I also took a very silly and completely adorable picture of Mr. Pants:

After some more walking, we had a great lunch of fish and chips on the harbor:

followed by some amazing Italian amaretti cookies from Vacarro’s Italian Bakery:

After lunch, we wandered around the rest of downtown for a while, giving me the opportunity to take some great pictures:

On the way back to the car, we took a moment to look at the window of the downtown real estate office, which just confirmed why we are still in an apartment…

Yes, that price does say $5,995,000 for a townhouse.

After a wonderful, fun, relaxing day downtown, we headed home and walked the dog. I finished writing my paper (which turned out to be really, really easy to do) while Mr. Pants and Savannah relaxed.

It was just wonderful to relax for a while and get my mind off of always doing homework.  Mr. Pants and I really needed the time together, and then coming home to write the paper again didn’t seem so bad.  I hope everyone else had just as nice a weekend!
