Precious

26 Oct

Today, we received a precious gift from the always amazing Caryn:

10.26.07 Present 8 - Blue Bottle of Love

That is a tear bottle from Tears to Treasure. Here the information they include in their brochure:

Tear bottles were prevalent in ancient Rome and Egypt, when mourners would collect their tears and bury them with loved ones to show honor and devotion.

Tear bottles re-appeared during the 19th-century Victorian era, when tears were collected in bottles with special stoppers; once the tears evaporated, the mourning period would end, but the bottle remained as a token of eternal devotion.

Today, tear bottles are given to symbolize tears of love, joy, sorrow, friendship and remembrance. They are unique gifts to celebrate others’ important rites of passage. During times of sadness, such as illness or bereavement, tear bottles can be given to express loving concern or sympathy.

It arrived while Mr. Pants was home for lunch, and we were both so touched.  It is tiny, unique, and beautiful…  just like our little Aodin.  Thanks Caryn, it means the world.

And just in case I haven’t said it on the blog, another thanks goes out to Pete for sending us awesome buttons so that we would have butterflies with us throughout the winter.  See the buttons here, and order your own special buttons from Buttonhead.

Yay for Caryn! I’ve never heard of these before but they are absolutely fantastic. What a beautiful touchstone to have.

As for the buttons, you are more than welcome. Once I saw your butterfly picture I was inspired. Something told me you could use a set of them. Glad you like them.
