Hi Again

29 Dec

Sorry I have been so lax with the updates.  In truth, there is just not much to say when every day is the same as the last.  I lay down.  I read books.  I surf the internet…  it’s not so bad really.

And if movement is any sign, Miss Sweetpea is doing just fine in there!  We have another check-up on Wednesday with the specialist and our regular OB, and I am expecting to hear that nothing has changed and that I will remain on bedrest for the long haul.  Which is honestly fine with me.  Whatever it takes, you know?

I have more books to talk about, since I have been reading so much!

  1. Ariana Franklin’s Mistress of the Art of Death — This is a medieval mystery of sorts, introducing as the main character a young female doctor.  I thought it was reasonably well done, and it turns out there are more books with the same character, so I will definitely be checking them out as well.  Verdict: A-
  2. Tobsha Learner’s Witch of Cologne — I got this one on a discount shelf for three dollars, and it was well worth it!  This one features a young Jewish midwife, a Catholic canon with revolutionary leanings, and a Spanish Inquisitor with a vendetta.  I thought it was well written and worth the read.  Verdict: A-
  3. Kelley Armstrong’s The Summoning — I picked this one up at Target on a whim because I like Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series, and am excited for her new Men of the Otherworld books as well.  This one is written specifically for a YA crowd, which means I read the whole thing in less than a day and enjoyed it.  I have already added the sequel to my Amazon wishlist!

That’s it for the book reviews for now, though of course I have just started another book.  Mostly I am just trying to relax, and trying not to stress out about the fact that I will be going one full month without pay thanks to my company’s thiry day “elimination period” for short term disability.  It’s frustrating, but again…  whatever it takes to get my daughter here safe and sound is worth everything.

Just finished Carlos Ruiz Zafron’s “Shadow of the Wind” and found it *highly* entertaining. Very good read.

Honestly, even a “nothing new to report” post is sufficient becasue it keeps us all from worrying too much about you.
