Weekend

3 Aug

We had a great, productive weekend around here.  We found some great farm stands (and one totally disappointing farmers market) and got some sweet corn, green tomatoes (which we fried and happily shared with the neighbors), okra, eggplant, and potatoes.  I am excited to use all of our stuff so we can go back out next weekend for another batch of fresh, local produce.

I finally painted the nursery while Aaron helped by wrangling Ms. Evi.  Aaron helped me do a couple of touch-ups yesterday, and it should be totally dry and ready for decor by today or tomorrow.  We intended to transition her to her crib over the weekend, but realized we never got a crib mattress!  Someone had bought one off of our registry, but it never showed up at our house, so we’re off to get one from Target tonight because the options at Walmart looked a little sketchy.  We may very well have her sleeping in her crib tonight, but definitely by tomorrow night.  I can’t believe she’s finally big enough to sleep on her own.  She’s growing up so fast!

Saturday night we headed down to the island and spent some time with Aaron’s mom and stepdad, and his aunt and her daughter.  It was great to see them all, we had a nice dinner at a new local restaurant, and a beautiful evening walk on the boardwalk.  We also ran into our neighbors while we were down there, which was pretty cool.  We love them.

Yesterday we did some much needed grocery shopping, and thanks to some coupon cutting and careful shopping we manged an entire two week’s worth of shopping for $80.  We even came home with some dessert and packaged convenience food, so it’s totally possible to shop on a budget without feeling like we’re missing out.  Of course I totally forgot to pick up another newspaper this weekend, so we’re hoping to find a leftover Sunday paper when we go out for the crib mattress tonight.

I’m off to search for online coupons now that we’ve got our printer set up again!  Happy Monday!
