Labor Day Weekend

7 Sep

We had a great long weekend!  Aaron had to work a half day today, but we still managed to get a lot done and spend some good time together.  Saturday we had lunch and pie with Aaron’s mom and stepdad.

Sunday was a LONG day.  We drove four hours to pick up the loaner car we got from a friend.  Now that we have two cars, we wanted to return it and we’d been storing it at a another friend’s house near where we bought the cars.  We had brunch with our friends, then drove 2.5 hours north to return the loaner.  We drove another hour north to get our air conditioning looked at by another helpful friend, had dinner, and drove the four hours home.  It was a TON of driving, but it meant some great meals with good friends and a chance to get the cars looked at for free!

Today when Aaron came home we finally stopped by a great winery near his office.  We got some lovely wines to bring home, including one that Aaron really liked.  We had such a beautiful day together, feeding Evi on the terrace of the winery and taking pictures of rain drops hanging from the vineyard grapes.  We came home, relaxed over a nice dinner, and rewatched Iron Man.

On the way home we saw a church bulletin that said “Trade God your pieces for his peace.”  In the end, we’ve discovered we’re quite fond of our pieces.  Our lives are beautiful in their imperfection.
